Vegan Tahini Brownies

These brownies are seriously something else, and are sure to be your new favourite. They are easy to make, and perfectly fudgy with a rich tahini tone. You’ll never go back to another brownie recipe again!

Ingredients

Brownies
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cups water
  • 5 tbsp applesauce
  • 1/4 cups neutral oil
  • 6 tbsp tahini
  • 1 tbsp vanilla sugar
  • 3/4 cups cocoa powder
  • 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 180 degrees celsius.
  • Heat a sauce pan to medium heat. Add in sugar and water and whisk together, stir occasionally, until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  • Meanwhile, in a large bowl, stir together all dry ingredients (vanilla sugar, cacao powder, flour and salt).
  • Once the sugar has completely dissolved, give it a final whisk, then pour it into the dry ingredients.
  • Add all remaining wet ingredients (applesauce and oil) as well as 2/3 of the tahini and mix together until a batter forms. Careful not to over mix, stir just until combined.
  • Transfer the batter into an 8×8 baking dish lined with parchment paper and drizzle with the remaining tahini.
  • Bake for about 35 minutes, or until desired consistency. (bake for longer if you don't like a fudgy inside and shorter if you want them really fudgy)
  • Remove from the oven and let cool completely, then slice into squares.
